Home Staging, Interior Décor and Photography

You may expect the Staging, Decorating and Interior Photography page to be just another sales pitch page.  Not here... I like to tell you about my creative journey that brought me here and allowed all pieces of this puzzle of mine to comfortably fall into place.

Years ago while in Creative Photography program at Humber College in Toronto, I discovered my love of working in high intensity settings. I absolutely loved the high gear days and a hint of stress and excitement that Wedding Photography provided.

At first, I worked with people I knew; we were all quite young, most just stepping into the adulthood.  It was when many of my close friends were getting married and I for one didn't really wanted to be the "bride's maid" time and time again. I had a set of skills I loved and was passionate about and never looked at the long, often exhausting 12 hours of shooting a wedding as work.  It was so much fun!

I developed a style of photography, the Brides and their Husbands were comfortable with me and the techniques I used created dreamy images everyone truly loved. Than, I got pregnant with my second child and my Wedding Photographer career was over before it really started. The realities of motherhood in the early '90.  I no longer was able to just spend 12 hours over the weekend away from my Family; my children were still just babies after all.

My focus shifted and my photography days were over... for a bit.

Life usually writes a scenario for you and my story was no different.  Over the years I developed many interests that somehow all circled around Real Estate, Interiors, Home Design and Building, Interior Design and Decor, and Interior Finishes; with years and while the children grew and blossomed into young adults my life evolved around other responsibilities, but my many passions remained.

My formal photography training was done in times of film and light meters; I was using medium format cameras like Hasselblad and Mamiya.  I knew how to process both Black and White film and how to work in a darkroom with color film as well.  The ground work of my knowledge was solid and the foundation was easy to build on.  When digital photography came into focus, like many others I had to re-learn certain things. By then, I no longer was able to spend weekends taking pictures of happy Brides.  My life demanded a flexible schedule and my own set of rules.

Switching to Interior Photography was a natural step in my journey.  The opportunity to grow into this type of photography came naturally as during that time I jumped into the deep waters of Real Estate Sales and let me tell you... it was as exciting and rewarding as I expected.

Again, high gear, a bit of tense situations and so much fulfilment, reward and happiness when I was able to advise the seller on best approach to stage, present and promote their property and sell it for them according to their expectations. Even greater joy when a First Time Buyer was stepping through their own front door for the first time.

Today, years later I now longer sell homes... I work with those looking for temporary housing as their lives dictate their stories. This again allows me to enjoy what I do and never call it work. It's the realization of this that brings me joy; because I am able to help people that often find themselves in stressful intense situations and with this bit of help from me and what I do for them, the sense of calmness comes back and they can re-group and re-focus on the important aspects of their moment, as there is stability and safety provided thought a place to stay when it's needed.

Because of my many years of practical experience working with owners of rental properties as well as their renters , I have a unique ability to pinpoint the best way to stage the property in such a way that it presents itself in the best light, while offering comfort and stability to a potential visitor, guest or tenant.

I have a keen eye for finding ways to reuse and rearrange existing furnishings that the owner already has in their space to breath new life into their interiors.  I will never ask you to go out and spend crazy amounts on new stuff... unless you really want to... because, let me tell you... I love shopping too!

If you are just setting up your first rental, and not necessarily have the unlimited funds to go all out and bring in truck-loads of stuff from the Brick or Lazy Boy; there are ways to get your interiors cozy and lived in without spending a fortune.  You just need to know where to look, what to buy, how to tweak it and style it for the most beneficial outcome.

If you would like to book a staging consultation or would like to talk about setting up your own furnished rental, give me a shout. I'm here to help.
